A new project at Willmar's Northeast Water Treatment Plant will update the plant’s filter system in order to remove ammonia, iron and manganese. An $8.5 million design contract has been approved.

Excess steam is released Thursday from the Willmar Power Plant. There is a large amount of unused steam due to the district heat load dropping so significantly as that program winds down. For greater efficiency, Willmar Municipal Utilities will implement use of a mobile boiler later this summer.
