Hargreaves committed to state Sex Offender Program
WILLMAR — Craig Allan Hargreaves, 47, a Level 3 sex offender formerly of Bayport, is in the Minnesota Sex Offender Program in Moose Lake and Stillwater for an indeterminate commitment after being declared a sexually dangerous person by Kandiyohi District Court Judge David Mennis.
Hargreaves had been convicted in 2010 of sexually molesting a 12-year-old boy in the summer of 2007. Before he was able to be released from prison in May 2017, the Kandiyohi County Attorney's office and the State Attorney General's office petitioned for Hargreaves to be civilly committed.
The judge's ruling said there was clear and convincing evidence the Hargreaves had engaged in a course of harmful sexual conduct, that he suffers from sexual and personality disorders and cannot adequately control his sexual impulses and, because of this, it is highly likely he will engage in further harmful sexual conduct.
The ruling was made in November, following a hearing, and court trial dates were canceled.
