Plymouth, Minn. man accused of killing brother in dispute over rent money
PLYMOUTH, Minn. -- A Plymouth man is accused of stabbing his brother to death during a dispute over rent money, charges say.
Garrett Bruce Ittel, 25, was charged Thursday, Jan. 11, with two counts of second-degree murder in the death of his 27-year-old brother Jamison. He is expected to make his first appearance Friday in Hennepin County District Court in Minneapolis.
Plymouth police responded Tuesday to a report of a stabbing at an apartment complex in Plymouth, according to a news release issued by the Hennepin County attorney's office.
Officers found Garrett Ittel on the front steps of the building, standing over his brother's body, which was barefoot, shirtless and covered with a blanket, the news release said.
Garrett Ittel told investigators that he and his brother were drinking on Tuesday at their apartment, when they began to argue about rent money that he owed Jamison Ittel, according to the news release.
He told investigators he got a knife out of his dresser drawer and stabbed his brother twice. Jamison Ittel then grabbed a blanket from the couch and went out to the front steps of the building, where officers later found him, the news release said.
