Protesters blocked entrances to Wells Fargo in downtown Duluth on Friday, Jan. 12, including the security gate, preventing the bank from opening. Members of the Duluth Police Department, including Chief Mike Tusken, are negotiating with three protesters locked onto a door and the gate in an effort to end the protest.

CROOKSTON, Minn. — An East Grand Forks, Minn., man has died in a crash near Crookston, and two other victims were sent to the hospital. Multiple agencies responded at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday to the crash about 10 miles east of Crookston on U.S. Highway 2, where a 2005 plumbing truck rear-ended a 1974 Ford F45 tractor truck, according to the Minnesota State Patrol. The two vehicles were eastbound.
ALEXANDRIA, Minn. -- Smoking caused a mobile home fire that killed two people in Alexandria on Jan. 5, according to authorities. The Alexandria Fire Department, the Alexandria Police Department and the State Fire Marshal completed the investigation and said the fire at Viking City Mobile Home Park at 1611 6th Avenue will be classified as accidental.

PAUL – About 95 percent of Minnesota manufacturers are expecting production levels to increase or stay the same in 2018, according to an annual joint survey by the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development and the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis. The random survey of 269 Minnesota manufacturing operations was conducted in November.
MOORHEAD, Minn. – The identities of those involved in a four-car crash Saturday afternoon that fatally injured a 2-year-old boy were released by the Moorhead Police Department on Monday, Jan. 8. Zaiden David Engen died Saturday at Fargo’s Sanford Medical Center as a result of the injuries he suffered in the crash, Capt. Tory Jacobson said in a news release.

Pop performer Pink will sing the national anthem before the Super Bowl in Minneapolis, the NFL and NBC announced Monday, Jan. 8. It will be Pink’s first performance at a Super Bowl. Justin Timberlake, as previously announced, will headline the halftime show Feb. 4 at U.S. Bank Stadium. Pink’s 2018 Beautiful Trauma World tour is set to kick off on March 1 in Phoenix.
MINNEAPOLIS -- The Minnesota Vikings have signed coveted Canadian Football League receiver Brandon Zylstra, a former standout at Concordia, to a reserve/future contract. The 6-foot-3, 220-pound Zylstra led the CFL with 1,687 receiving yards for the Edmonton Eskimos this past season. One of Zylstra’s many recent NFL workouts included a stop at Winter Park on Dec. 8.
BEMIDJI, Minn. -- A 20-year-old Bemidji man was arrested Monday night after allegedly setting fire to a home near Bemidji. According to a news release from the Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office, deputies and the Bemidji Fire Department responded to a fire at the 700 block of Sunset Way at about 8:22 p.m., and found flames and heavy smoke coming from the lower level of the home.
