SPICER — The 2015-16 ice fishing season saw late ice, early ice-out, relatively low fishing pressure and not a lot of success stories. This was not helped by the fact the typical “first ice” hot bite occurred only for those who did not winterize their boat. Those walleyes (and northerns) that escaped winterkill, pimples, fishheads on a hook, the business end of a spear (talking northerns now) and hot grease may not be so lucky come the 2016 opener.

The incident was reported at around 5 p.m. Thursday in the 500 block of Russell Street Northwest in Willmar.
